It's been AGES since I updated the website! Dave and I have been so busy lately (which means less traveling unfortunately). However, we did do a little traveling over the July 4th holiday weekend and I'm gonna' try to get the photos up soon (and some great "patriotic looking" shots from a cookout at Darren and Kristen's on the 4th. Until then ... I give you a modest update! Mainz is another town, not far from home, with lots of Roman leftovers. Check out my photos from the old part of the city!

The sun was shining when we left home, but in the short time it takes to get to Heidelberg ... it was raining. We've taken to referring to this as "the curse of Heidelberg" as every time we take visting friends and family the sky opens up as we arrive. Still ... it wasn't raining THAT badly and we still had some non-rainy beer-in-a-cafe time.

Happy Easter, everyone! Last weekend we went to an open air museum (Hessenpark) for another Easter egg market. Hessen is the "state" Frankfurt is in and the museum park (it's all outdoors) is basically an old German village typical of what you would have found in Hessen hundreds of years ago. There are animals, craftsmen, and last Sunday there were Easter eggs!

The Mosel Weinstrasse winds for miles and miles along the banks of the Mosel River. We made this drive for the first time in January of 2003 and hadn't been back since. It was amazing to see the difference, not only in season, but the changes time has made (especially near Burg Landshut in Burnkastel-Kues: what had once been vineyard was now overgrown). Other photos are from Piesport and Zell.

Heidelberg is close to home and made the perfect daytrip after our late night at Disneyland Paris the night before (and the drive home). We slept in late, made a quick stop for Dad Meeson to buy a digital camera, and we were on the road again. We walked around the marktplatz and over to one of the bridges for a panoramic view of the city with the castle above it. Back in the markplatz we stopped at the Bier Brezel for a late lunch of beer, pretzels, and soup before taking the funicular train up to the castle.
