We traveled north to the Gemeentegrot and the Fluweelengrot -- that's a mouthful, isn't it? Two different kinds of Christmas markets in the Netherlands ... both inside caves!

What an amazing place! Pictures and words don't even come close to capturing the beauty of these gardens! And the bulb fields! Wow! The countryside looked like a patchwork quilt!

Delft is a small town not far from from Amsterdam. It's porbably best known for it's namesake blue and white Delftware pottery. You may also recognize Delft if you're an art lover or have seen the movie "Girl with a Pearl Earring," as it was filmed and set here (it's about the artist Johannes Vermeer who lived and painted in the city). The market square features prominently in the film.
Like Amsterdam, Delft is filled with canals. The marketplace is beautiful, especially at night.

This was our first time in the Netherlands! Josh and Stephanie had read about a Christmas Market inside caves, so we added this to our list of "must hit markets" this year.
